Getting Started: Practical Tips for Exploring Athens

Comfortable Footwear:

Athens, much like Santorini, demands comfortable footwear. While exploring archaeological sites, museums, and bustling neighborhoods, sturdy walking shoes are essential. The city's terrain can be uneven, so prioritize comfort to make the most of your explorations. I lived in my Oka-B sandals on this trip!

Appropriate Attire:

Respect for local customs is important in Athens. When visiting religious sites and traditional neighborhoods, consider wearing modest clothing. Comfortable layers are also recommended, especially during the warmer months.

Public Transportation:

Athens has an efficient public transportation system, including buses, trams, and the metro. Purchase a multi-day pass for unlimited access and convenient travel between historic sites and modern neighborhoods. Personally, when I’m visiting a new city I try to walk as much as possible< that is the best way to discover less touristy dining and take in the culture and vibe of the city.
