Festive Things To do in Atlanta in 2020

Holiday activities that are safe, socially distanced and clean

It’s the most wonderful time of the most rollercoaster ride of a year! I am not going to say 2020 was an absolute dumpster fire. (It was close!) Being lucky enough to come from a place of privilege, I know my family fared 2020 much better than others, and for that we are extremely grateful. But let's be honest, it cramped our traveling and adventure lifestyle—a lot!

If this is not your first time here you know travel, adventure and experience is what my family lives for. It is our love language, our emotional recharge, and more! One major change for us (and everyone) during this Year of the Virus was travel and local exploration.

The holiday season in Atlanta is my favorite for getting out and exploring our town. In the past it has been filled with visits to The Pink Pig, Atlanta Staycations and more. To say 2020 has been different is an understatement and honestly, finding the motivation after more than six months of staying home has been more of a challenge than I expected.

Staying healthy and helping flatten the COVID-19 curve is important to us and finding activities allowing us to socially distance properly is important. As always, we stopped over at The Fernbank Museum, but this year we attended one of their holiday hangouts in the evening. They have a new experience this year of life-sized snow globes along their WildWoods trail and a "sock" ice skating rink, a cool favorite!

Last week, we had the opportunity of visiting the "World of Illumination" in Marietta, GA, for their Candy Rush drive-through light display. These types of holiday activities are perfect for having a holiday experience staying socially distanced. All you have to do is reserve a ticket entry time online, then drive up, roll down your windows, and enjoy the lights and holiday music. The light show is synched with music and is a magical experience for adults and kiddos.

Drive-through holiday lights are the perfect way to add some cheer and a fun outing to your holiday season during this crazy pandemic.

How have your local holiday traditions changed this year? I would love to hear how you adjusted and any fun ideas you have to share!
